HS Volleyball: Starmont Earns Second Straight State Tournament Berth

For the second season in a row and 2nd ever time in school program history the Starmont Stars Volleyball team earned a spot into the Class 1A state tournament bracket with a Region 6 Final victory of 3-0 over Iowa Valley. The Stars controlled the match winning 25-19, 25-18 and 25-9 giving the Tigers their fourth Regional Final loss in a row and denied them of their first ever state trip. Head coach Robert Goedken shared his thoughts after his team reached another step in this seasons journey:

Junior Haley Goedken led the way with 12 kills, Macy Mommer had 9, 7 each for Maddy Vaske and Isabel Johanns and 2 for Regan Janssen. The Stars improved to 30-5 in matches and 70-13 set wise which is a new school record surpassing last season when they tallied 68 game victories. Starmont received the fourth seed and will take on fifth seeded 37-5 Holy Trinity next Wednesday night at 8pm.

Second-ranked 38-2 Springville beat HLV 3-0 and gets North Tama in their quarterfinal next Wednesday also at 8pm.
