The final two KMCH area coverage teams had their seasons come to a close yesterday at the 2017 state volleyball tournament. The 6th-seeded Beckman Blazers gave great effort against the 3rd-seed Waterloo Columbus after being down 2 games to none but their comeback came up short falling 3-1. The Blazers won game three 25-20 then fell in the hard fought back and forth fourth set that saw 13 ties, 29-27. Beckman ended one of their best seasons in school program history with a mark of 31-13, getting back to the state tourney for the sixth time and first since 2006 and say goodbye to 6 seniors.
The Starmont Stars were shutout by Holy Trinity 3-0. The Stars lost games of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-17 as the Crusaders controlled the match from the beginning as Starmont never led at any point in any of the sets. The Stars dropped to 30-6 after a great run for the second season in a row as they made it to state in back to back seasons and will return everybody with no seniors on the squad.
