The West Delaware Girls basketball team opened up their schedule with a 50-38 home loss to Waverly-Shell Rock last night in Manchester. The contest started out close as the Go-Hawks held a 10-6 first quarter score before pulling away to lead by 11 at halftime. The lead got to as much as 14 midway through the third but the Hawks made a run and got it to as close as 6 midway through the 4th quarter. Seniors Kendra Offerman and Lauren Collier led the way offensively scoring 12 and 7 points respectively. Abby McGrane and Mia Peyton had 4, Brooke O’Connell 3, Macey Kleitsch, Madalynn Burke, Allison Collier and Eva Winn all tallied 2 points. The GoHawks won for the fifth time in the series in the past six years and for the 3rd straight season. The Hawks Fresh/Soph team lost 42-12 and the JV squad fell 38-14.
The Hawks will host Class 5A Waterloo East tonight at Seedorff, it will be a JV/Varsity doubleheader starting at 6pm.
