Manchester Council to Discuss Proposed Plans for New Hotel

Proposed plans for a new Manchester hotel will be discussed at tonight’s Manchester City Council meeting.

Boulders Inn Manchester LLC is looking at investing at least two-point-three million dollars to construct a 32-room hotel in the West Commercial Subdivision on the west end of Manchester along Highway 13. The Council will consider a development agreement with Boulders Inn and Suites, which includes provisions for a 100-thousand dollar forgiveable loan.

If approved by the Council, the City would provide a 100-thousand dollar forgiveable loan and a 10-year sliding scale tax exemption. The terms of the loan would allow it to be forgiven based on a rate of 50-cents for every dollar generated in Hotel/Motel Tax on the site.

The Council will also review the site plan for the proposed hotel.

Tonight’s Manchester City Council meeting begins at 5 pm.

Other area meetings today include the Delaware County Supervisors at 1:15 pm, the Maquoketa Valley School Board at 5 pm, the Dubuque County Supervisors at 5:30 pm and the Cascade City Council at 6 pm.

And the Independence School Board will hold a work session at 6 pm to discuss their search for a new superintendent.

Other meetings this week include the Jones County Supervisors meeting at 9 am tomorrow.
