HS Wrestling: West Delaware Begins Season Tonight At Waverly-Shell Rock

The West Delaware wrestling team will begin its 2017-2018 campaign tonight as they travel to Waverly to take on the 10th ranked Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks. The Hawks will look to improve on their 8-11 record last season as they return two state qualifiers from last season in junior Mitchel Mangold who finished third as a sophomore at 145 pounds and senior Harrison Goebel who qualified at 182 pounds. Both Mangold and Goebel will be eyeing a big milestone this season as Goebel is just 18 wins away from his 100th career victory while Mangold is 24 away from win number 100. 23rd year head coach Jeff Voss says his team is looking forward to getting out of the practice room and back into competition:

Although the team returns a lot of varsity experience they will have plenty of youth on the team and Voss is excited to see some of the improvement they have made since last season:

The Go-Hawks will feature seven ranked wrestlers so it will be a very tough test for the Hawks’ first meet of the year:

Live coverage from tonight’s dual meet can be heard right here on KMCH and on KMCH.com starting at around 7:15 with Roger Reed and Jamie Vaske.
