WEST DELAWARE BOYS BASKETBALL: Hawks Face 4A #4 Cedar Falls in Home Opener

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The 0-1 West Delaware Hawks will host Class 4A No. 4 Cedar Falls in their home opener inside Seedorff Gymnasium tonight. The Hawks are coming off of that tough season road opener in Van Horne Monday night where they fell to Benton Community 78-67. WD allowed 29 bench points to the Bobcats and shot just 2 of 20 from three-point land in the contest. Fifth-year head coach Matt Uthoff knows things will get better, it’s just a matter of when with a team lacking varsity experience besides starters Derek Krogmann and Tyler Kelley:

Cedar Falls will be making their regular season debut tonight. The Tigers were 16-8 last season and finished in a 4A substate final. Their main offensive component is back in UNI commit 6’3″ senior guard AJ Green who led the team with 21 points a game last season. All the coverage can be heard on our companion station Cruisin AM 1250 or online at www.kcfiradio.com with KMCH Sports Director Jon Swisher and Dan Cassutt starting with the pregame show around 7:15pm.
