HS BASKETBALL: WD Hawk Boys Fall to 4A #4 Cedar Falls

The West Delaware Hawks dropped to 0-2 as they fell in their home opener inside Seedorff Gymnasium last night to Class 4A 4th-ranked Cedar Falls 82-43 in a shortened running clock game that last only an hour and three minutes. The Tigers led by all-state 4-star UNI commit AJ Green jumped out of the gates shooting lights out. Green connected on 3 three-pointers in the first quarter propelling CF to a 26-9 lead at the quarter break. Green added 4 more 3’s in the 2nd as the Tigers built up a 48-23 lead at halftime. The scoring continued in the third as they led 69-35. The largest lead of the night of 42 came in the 4th quarter. Green finished the contest with 28. Derek Krogmann led the Hawks with 10 points, 8 from Tyler Kelley, 5 a piece from Jarod Harris and Keegan Kolbet, 4 from Kyle Kelley, 3 for Dunston Werner and Gavin Soppe and Drew Wubbena had 2.

The Hawks will try to rebound tonight as they host WaMaC West conference foe Vinton-Shellsburg for parents night.
