Survey Shows 89% of Manchester Drivers Buckle Up

Manchester Police say their “STEP” Program over the Thanksgiving holiday was a success.

Officers were stationed throughout Manchester watching for seatbelt use over a one-week period. Before the week started, they took a survey and found that only 72-percent of drivers in Manchester were buckling up.

During the “STEP” Program, police issued eight traffic citations and 83 traffic warnings.

After the program, another survey was done, which found that 89-percent of drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

A number of other law enforcement agencies across the state also participate in the “STEP” Program.
