Regional Medical Center in Manchester will be the first in the state to receive new 3D mammography technology.
In early 2018, the hospital will install a 3D Mammogram System with Hologic 3Dimensions. Lynn McTaggert says it will have the highest resolution, contrasted 3D images.
The new technology will provide less exposure to radiation – and it will have curved paddles, so it’s more comfortable for patients.
The new equipment is expected to cost over 400-thousand dollars. And Alyssa Boies says as a non-profit hospital, RMC is asking for the community’s help in funding this potentially life-saving machine.
This year alone, Regional Medical Center provided roughly 24-hundred mammograms. Boies says if this machine can help them save even one life, it would be worth it.
