Imogene C. Stoffel, 93, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. She was born on November 11, 1924, in Bankston, the daughter of Louis and Madeline (Schmitt) Hagerty. Imogene was raised and educated in the Bankston area and graduated from Bankston High School in 1943.
On June 11, 1946, Imogene was united in marriage to Ray Stoffel in Bankston. Four children were born to this union. The family resided in Rickardsville until 1949, when they moved to Edgewood. Together they farmed near Edgewood. Imogene also worked part time as a cook, and then from 1969 to 1986 she worked as a part time custodian for the Edgewood Schools. Ray passed away in 2007 and for the past four years Imogene has been a resident of the Edgewood Convalescent Home.
Imogene was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church. She was a 25 plus year volunteer at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. Imogene enjoyed doing needlepoint work. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include her children, Gary Stoffel of Garnavillo, Julie (Kurt) Elledge of Davenport, Washington, Marcia Henthorn of Lander, Wyoming, and Barb Minniear of Marion; three grandchildren, Russell Elledge, Ben Minniear, and Monica Stoffel; two great-grandsons, Jeremy and Jayden Elledge; and three siblings, Pat (Judy) Hagerty of Bankston, Katie Stoffel of Dyersville, Judy (Ray) Slonkowski of St. Paul Minnesota.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Stoffel; one grandson, Ryan Elledge; two brothers, Louis Hagerty, Jr. and Melvin Hagerty; and one sister Eileen Conrad.
