Authorities Looking for Person Following Lake Delhi Death

Authorities released more information on Wednesday afternoon regarding the incident that left one man dead at Lake Delhi.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office had received a report of a submerged vehicle in Lake Delhi just north of 247th Street on Monday. The body of 23-year old Alex Salow of Delhi was discovered inside the vehicle, which was recovered by Delaware County Fire and EMS.

The Sheriff’s Office says an investigation shows that Salow and a second occupant, who has been identified (but name not released), left Smokey’s Grill on Sunday night around 7:30 to 8 pm and traveled northbound on the ice of Lake Delhi.

As part of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are seeking the public’s help. Investigators would like to identify a separate driver who picked up the second unnamed occupant in the area of Lake Delhi around 7:30 to 8 pm Sunday night. They say that driver gave the second occupant a ride to a home in Manchester.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the driver on Sunday night is asked to call the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at 927-3135.
