HS SPORTS: Scheduled Games and Meets for Friday 1-12

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The winter weather mix and icy road conditions yesterday led to a number of high school wrestling postponements and cancellations Thursday night. One of those meets has been rescheduled for tonight in Lisbon as North Linn and Maquoketa Valley travel to take on Midland and the host Lions in Tri-Rivers conference JV/Varsity matches beginning at 6pm.

In area coverage basketball tonight, our featured game from KMCH Sports comes from Seedorff Gymnasium at West Delaware High School as the Hawk boys entertain the Blue Raiders of Anamosa. The Hawks have won three games in a row and are 7-4 overall with a 4-2 WaMaC East division mark, good for a two-way tie for 2nd place with Solon after their road win in Epworth Tuesday night as they knocked off the first place Bobcats. Anamosa is 3-9 and 2-4 on the East side, putting them in a two-way tie for sixth place with Maquoketa, despite pushing the fourth-placed Beckman Blazers to a one-point game Tuesday night. It will be the final WaMaC conference meeting between the two programs at WDHS as the Blue Raiders will be in the River Valley Conference starting in the Fall. The Hawks won both meetings last season, including a 64-32 victory in Manchester on Feb. 7th. All the coverage tonight live on KMCH and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan around 7:30pm.
