This past Saturday marked the final weekend of wrestling tournaments before conference meets next Saturday for our area teams.
In Letts: It was a tight three team race at the 2018 Louisa-Muscatine Invitational as the West Delaware wrestling team had two champions and finished as the runner-up just four points behind Cedar Rapids Kennedy and five points ahead of West Liberty who finished third. Hawk sophomores Luke Farmer and Evan Woods won titles as Farmer went 3-0 with two falls to claim the 106 pound title, while Woods had a fall and a technical fall on his way to a 3-0 record and the 113 pound crown. West Delaware junior Mitchell Mangold recorded career win number 100 with a 50 second first round fall over Tyler Conger of Davenport West. For complete results click HERE.
In Anamosa: Anamosa won their own Denny Christens0n Invitational as they were 13.5 points better than second place Columbus Community. The Blue Raiders had three individual champions as senior 126 pounder Morgan Rowley went 5-0 with four falls and a tech fall to win the tournament. Freshman Nathan Keating had three pins to claim the title at 152, and freshman went 2-0 with two falls to win the 220 pound bracket. Starmont finished in fifth place as they were led by senior Tyler Mueller-Lynde at 170, and junior Bryce Moine at 195 who both went undefeated and won titles for the Stars. In LeGrand: Independence went 2-1 at the East Marshall GMG tournament as the Mustangs defeated both East Marshall GMG and Sigourney Keota 69-12 with their lone loss coming to 8th ranked in class 2A Washington 43-30. For complete results click HERE.
In Winthrop: East Buchanan hosted their annual Dave Steinkamp Duals which saw the Buccaneers wrestle four great teams in dual meet format. The Bucs went 1-3 as they defeated Jesup 58-18 and fell to Boone 42-33, MFL Mar-Mac 47-29, and Sumner Fredericksburg 42-25. For complete dual results click HERE.

In Clinton: Western Dubuque finished in 11th Place at the Bob Lueders Invite.
In Denver: Beckman finished third at the Denver Duals.
In Wyoming: Ed-Co finished fifth at the John Byers Invite.
In Greene: North Linn finished seventh at the Doug Trees Bearcat Invite.
In Alburnett: Monticello finished third while Cascade finished sixth at the Alburnett Invite.
On the mat tonight Beckman, Ed-Co, Starmont, and South Winneshiek will be at North Fayette Valley for double dual action starting at 6:00, and the WaMaC JV tournament will be held at South Tama High School starting at 5:00.
