HS Wrestling: West Delaware Wins “Clash Of Highway 20” Trophy

It was the battle for the “Clash of Highway 20” traveling trophy in Independence last night as the West Delaware and Independence wrestling teams hit the mat for their annual rivalry which the Mustangs have won the previous four meetings. The dual started at 160 pounds and the Hawks jumped out with a 3-0 lead as Jared Voss defeated Seth House 3-0, but the Mustangs tied the dual as Cole Davis won 6-2 over Jack Neuhaus. Jordan Bries followed with a fall and Harrison Goebel picked up a 16-3 major decision to put the Hawks up 13-3 before Hunter Crawford cut West Delaware’s lead to six with a 19-6 major decision at 220 pounds, but it would be last match the Mustangs would win as the Hawks would go on to win the final seven wrestled matches wrestled and won the dual 67-7. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss was excited to see the way his team responded to the atmosphere of the big dual meet under the lights:
