The Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet Wednesday night at the Monticello Eagles Club.
Monticello Chamber Board President Monica Gray of CMG Properties, LLC says this past year brought some changes to the Chamber.
Several people were honored with Chamber awards at the banquet. The Monticello Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Tom Yeoman of Yeoman & Company, who served as a councilman and mayor for a number of years.
Former Monticello mayor Dena Himes was named the Chamber’s Lifetime Membership recipient.
Himes says the award made her a little emotional.
And several Community Pride Awards were also given. The Award for New Construction went to Lloyd Welter, who is responsible for the construction of a new retail space on South Main Street (home to Culligan Total Water). The Award for Renovation went to Amanda Hackney and Melissa Ehrishman, who run Almost Famous Dance Studio and recently opened a clothing and accessory shop called Bipsy Bopsy Boutique. The Award for Community Services was presented to David Boehm at Animal Welfare Friends, an organization established by a group of volunteers who rescue and care for animals. And the Award for Economic Development went to Ted and Sarah Kraus of Hillside Sports Bar and Grill.
Gray says the Monticello Chamber is grateful for the support this past year and is looking forward to the year ahead.
Some of the events coming up in 2018 include May Day in the Pocket Park, the July 4th Parade and Kid’s Events and A Taste of Wine and Roses in August.
