Russell Reiter has been hired for the position. Reiter has been in education for over 30 years, serving as a teacher and administrator. For the past eight years, he has served as the superintendent for the Oskaloosa Community School District.
Reiter was one of three finalists who met with the community in Independence on Monday. He was chosen by the school board after they received the community’s feedback.
Reiter will begin his duties July 1st. He and retiring Superintendent Jean Peterson will be working together the rest of the school year to ensure a smooth transition.
