All the high school girls Class 1A first round basketball games that were played Thursday night were moved up to earlier start times to try and beat the heavy snowfall. 17 of the 29 scheduled games were completed with the other 12 slated for make-up times Friday or Saturday nights.
Our coverage game on KMCH Sports took place in Edgewood and began at 5pm, the Ed-Co Vikings season came to a close at the hands of Central Elkader 32-30. The low scoring back and forth tilt featured 7 lead changes and 2 ties. Ed-Co led at halftime 19-14 but were outscored 18-11 in the 2nd half only scoring 3 points in the 4th quarter. The Warriors were led by Hannah Erickson and Gabrielle Lenth with 10 points. Lexi Ehde had 7 for the Vikings, Haley Fitzpatrick, Lowda Bueno and Bailee Helle each tallied 5. Central improved to 11-11 and will travel to Lansing to face Kee High in 2nd round play Tuesday night. The Vikings fell to 9-14 and say goodbye to one senior, Lexi Ihde.
Lone Tree at Midland postponed to Friday, Feb. 9th, 6:00 p.m.
