The High School Bowling Class 1A state tournament took place yesterday at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo.
On the boys side, head coach Bob Morris and West Delaware claimed their second title in a row with a score of 3179, holding off Charles City by 31 pins. Maquoketa was 4th with a 1955. Hawk senior Jim Shover rolled the 2nd best score, of 507, in the state only 7 pins behind the winner. Shover and junior teammate Ian Tibbott were selected to play in an all-star series amateur tournament on Sunday at Cadillac Lanes. Shover said the experience of being there a day earlier really paid off:

Tibbott rolled a 409 good for 14th place, John Juergens had a 390,Alex Schneiders a 383, a 374 for Jeff Boeckenstedt and a 335 for Eli Heims.
The WD Girls under the direction of Ken Boesenberg placed 5th with a score of 2555. 4-time state qualifer and 2-time champion Andrea Salow a senior led the way with a 4th place finish with a 425. Lorna Niedert rolled a 389 coming in 8th. Salow talks about her experience and how happy she was that her teammates got to join her in her final season:
Hannah Axline had a 330, Kaliah Griffin a 303 and Lacey Cole a 276.
The 2A tourney featuring Western Dubuqe has been pushed back to Thursday because of the weather impacting Waterloo today.
