HS GIRLS STATE BASKETBALL: CASCADE set for second ever Title Game appearance

The Cascade Cougars Girls’ Basketball team is ready to compete in their second state championship contest in program history this evening at 5pm inside Wells Fargo arena in Des Moines. The Cougars got to the 2A Final meeting against Grundy Center with a 62-53 triple overtime win over North Union yesterday afternoon in the semifinals. The contest was the second longest ever at the Girls State Tournament since 1920. The longest game occurred in 1997 as Ankeny defeated Waterloo West.

KMCH Sports Director Jon Swisher caught up with Cougars head coach Mike Sconsa on Saturday morning:

Cascade is 8-6 in state tourney games, looking for their first championship in their 2nd title game ever. The first coming back on Friday night March 6th, 2009 when they fell to IKM-Manning 50-31.
