One person was taken to the hospital after a house fire in Springville Saturday afternoon.
The fire broke out at the home of Mark and Christina Kirchmann at 407 High Avenue.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says when they and other emergency personnel arrived, they found the house fully engulfed in flames. Mark Kirchmann was grilling at the time. Authorities believe the grill may have started the fire.
Mark Kirchmann was transported to Mercy Hospital for what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. A few firefighters were also treated at the scene, but refused to be transported to the hospital.
The house is a total loss. The Red Cross has been called in to help the homeowners.
The Springville Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
