Local residents got a chance to visit with a couple area legislators on Friday morning at the Legislative Coffee at the Farm Bureau meeting room in Manchester.
The Legislative Coffee is an hour and a half long forum hosted by Delaware County Farm Bureau and Delaware County Economic Development. State Senator Dan Zumbach of Ryan and State Representative Lee Hein of Monticello were on hand, with a couple dozen residents turning out to ask the legislators questions ranging from taxing credit unions to school bus transportation funding. A Dyersville farmer had concerns about health insurance. Senator Zumbach says he hopes two potential bills can help.
Senator Zumbach also answered a question about tax policy.
Representative Hein addressed a concern from Delaware County Supervisor Jeff Madlom about rollback.
With the legislative session half over, Hein says their attention will soon turn to the state budget.
Zumbach says the first half of the session is about building and passing policy, while the second half focuses on the tax side of things.
The last day of the Iowa legislative session is scheduled for April 17th.
