Day three of the 95th Boys Basketball State Tournament saw our two area coverage teams advance on to their respective championship contests on Friday afternoon.

The North Linn Lynx improved to 28-0 as they won their 29th game in a row with a 74-51 victory over Don Bosco yesterday afternoon. After the Dons started off the game leading 12-6 before the Lynx went on a 23-0 run taking the lead for good. Jake Hilmer led the way with 29 points, Ryan Miller had 25, Trevor Boge stepped up with 15, 4 for Adam Waskow and David Seber had 1. The Lynx earned the first trip to a championship game for the first time in school program history as they will face the expected opponent in the 2nd-seeded Thunder of Grandview Christian at 2:oopm Friday.

Cascade put on a clinic as they took down the higher seeded Orabs of Sheldon 65-43 last night. The Cougars improved to 25-1, the most wins in program history since the 24 win team of  2010-11. The Cougars stayed consistent and led for most of the way after 3 ties and 4 lead changes early on. Senior Haris Hoffman played determined to finish his career in a title contest as he tallied 23 points, 13 for Brock Simon and Gannon O’Brien, 7 for Derek Koppes, 3 each for Johnny Supple, Reid Rausch and Race Cuckler. The Cougars move on to the title game, to face top-seeded Treynor, for the second time ever and first since 2016 in Al Marshall’s final season.
