A Ryan farmer who serves in the state legislature is moving forward with his plans to run for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture.
Republican State Senator Dan Zumbach announced last month that he would run as a candidate ONLY IF Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey was accepted as an Under Secretary in the USDA. With Northey now officially moving on to Washington D.C., Zumbach says he’s ready to give it a shot.
And running for a position on the state level while still serving as a senator will keep Zumbach busy until the June primary.
Several others are in the running for Iowa Ag Secretary too, including Mike Naig, the Deputy Ag Secretary who was sworn in Monday to replace Northey, and former Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Lang.
