Day 4 of the 2018 Boys Basketball State Tournament saw the first two consolation games take place. In Class 1A, Don Bosco defeated Remsen St. Mary’s 61-51. In 2A, Aplington-Parkersburg took down Sheldon 65-52.
Semifinals were played in the bigger 2 classes.
Glenwood pulled off the stunning upset beating Cedar Rapids Xavier 69-63. Waverly-Shell Rock was nipped by Oskaloosa 48-45.
Iowa City West advanced to their 10th championship game in school program history with a 58-50 victory over Waukee. Cedar Falls qualified for their first ever title contest with a 67-58 win over West Des Moines Valley.
Today inside Wells Fargo Arena on the fifth and final day of the tournament, the 3A and 4A consolation games will be held with yesterday’s semifinals losers facing off then all four championship games will occur.
In Class 1A-
The 28-0 North Linn Lynx will be looking for their 30th win in a row as they play in their first ever boys title contest in school program history. The Lynx will battle 2nd-seeded 24-1 Grandview Christian. The Thunder are defending 1A state champs. The contest will begin around 2pm and all the coverage will begin at 1:45pm live on KMCH and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher and North Linn Girls coach Brian Wheatley.
The 2A Final features area coverage school Cascade. The 25-1 Cougars will be competing in their second championship contest, first since 2016 when they fell to Western Christian 42-35. Their opponent this afternoon around 3:45pm will be the 26-0 Cardinals of Treynor. All the coverage will be live following North Linn’s game.
Glenwood and Oskaloosa will meet.
Iowa City West will take on Cedar Falls.
