College Wrestling: Voss, Birt Earn All-American Status

Coe College junior and 2014 West Delaware grad Jake Voss earned All-American status this past weekend as he finished eighth at 174 pounds at the Division III national tournament. Voss opened the tournament with a 16-0 technical fall over Troy Seymour of Oswego St. before falling 7-5 against third seeded Ben Swarr of Messiah leaving him one match shy of placing, but in the second round of consolations Voss defeated Joseph Sindoni of York (PA) guaranteeing a spot on the podium. Voss would lose his next two matches to finish eighth helping Coe to a 12th place team finish.

Millikin University freshman and 2017 Western Dubuque graduate Bradan Birt finished in seventh place at 149 pounds as he lost in the first round  Trevor Corl of Lycoming but rallied for three straight wins in which he outscored his opponents 33-14. Birt lost 23-12 to Evan Drill of NYU in the consolation quarterfinals before he avenged his first round loss and pinned Trevor Corl in 1:32 to take home seventh place while Millikin finished in 13th place.
