A Palo man was arrested after a high-speed chase in Linn County Friday morning.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year Timothy Nelson refused to stop when a deputy tried pulling him over on Blairs Ferry Road near Palo. Nelson did not have a valid driver’s license and had active warrants for his arrest.
The chase went through Palo on Blairs Ferry Road to Hollenbeck Road and then to Fletcher Road before Nelson drove his vehicle into a field going west. His vehicle then crashed into a ditch at the Linn-Benton Road near Yates Road, which is when Nelson fled on foot with his dog.
Deputies caught up to Nelson after chasing him on foot. While they were taking him into custody, Nelson’s dog bit one of the deputies in the arm. The deputy was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
Nelson faces multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated or drugged and interference with official acts with injury.
