Manchester Police recently participated in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau’s STEP Program over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
Officers were stationed throughout town watching for seatbelt use.
A survey done before the special enforcement effort found 94-percent of drivers were buckling up. During the enforcement program, Manchester Police issued 11 traffic citations and gave out 44 traffic warnings. A follow-up survey showed that nearly 95-percent of drivers were using their seatbelts.
The STEP Program ran for four days from March 14th through the 17th. Chief Jim Hauschild says programs like this one prove to be very effective.
