Teen Killed in Collision South of Petersburg

A teenager was killed in a collision south of Petersburg on Saturday morning.

It happened on 300th Avenue shortly before 10:30 am.

The Iowa State Patrol says 16-year old Mackenzie McArthur of Asbury died in the crash.

Authorities say McArthur’s car was southbound when she crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming SUV head-on.

The driver of the SUV, 31-year old Kendra Klein of Dyersville, was injured and transported to Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Her one-year old passenger, Willow Klein, was also injured and taken to the hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Dyersville Fire Department, Earlville Fire and Ambulance Service, Bi-County Ambulance and the Iowa DNR all assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the accident scene.
