Dyersville Chamber Announces “Woman of the Year” Nominees

The Dyersville Chamber has announced the four nominees for its “Woman of the Year” award.

Congratulations to Patricia Lammers, Jessica Pape, Jacque Rahe and Sonja Ramirez! Their nominations letters are below.

The “Woman of the Year” will be announced at the Chamber’s Women’s Night event on Wednesday night, April 18th at the Total Fitness Rec Center. This year’s event featuring keynote speaker Mary Ferentz has been sold out for several weeks.

Patricia Lammers

Pat works with handicap individuals in the community as well as in their home at Unlimited Services.  Pat has been a valuable asset with the Dyersville Progress Outreach Program and Dyersville Special Olympics.  Pat’s hard work and positive attitude alongside the coach, Lois Olberding, have helped many achieve first place at State.  Pat is a blessing from assisting the individuals record their times for local and state competitions to the fittings for the Special Olympics uniforms.  Pat’s continued efforts help keep the two organizations functioning well. Pat’s never-quit-attitude and compassion in helping others is inspiring.

Jessica Pape

Although Jessica is currently the Director of the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce, Dyersville and the surrounding area are still very important to her.  As a leader of the Third Grade Reading Incentive (Dyersville Campaign for Grade Level Reading), Jessica has helped shine a light on Dyersville because of this program’s success – even travelling to Denver, Colorado to accept an award.  She has a passion for children, learning and reading and has spent countless hours getting more books in the hands of the children in our community.  She is also the current President of the Western Dubuque School Board.  Lastly, Jessica is a mom who no matter how busy she is, always makes time for family.  She is a wonderful example for her daughter showing her what a woman can do when she sets her mind to it.

Jacque Rahe

Jacque is a firecracker of a woman who works hard for Dyersville.  She is smart, outgoing and Dyersville’s biggest advocate.  She has spent numerous hours going above and beyond as not only a business advisor and grant writer, but ensures every avenue has been researched to make a project successful.  Jacque is a member of the Lion’s club, teaches a spin class at the Rec Center, and serves on several boards such as the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation and the Prosperity Eastern Iowa. She is also spearheading the Riverfront Development which will provide much needed housing in Dyersville, beautification of a neglected public space, as well as more parking downtown.  Now, Jacque does like beer and breweries, and maybe that’s why she’s been so supportive of my vision for this potential brewery.  But that’s not it.  Jacque loves Dyersville, and she loves her job of bringing recognition and prosperity to Dyersville.  This nomination briefly touches on her impact in this community. There’s so much more. But, the bottom line is that Jacque Rahe is all about success for Dyersville, and she has the incredible work ethic and stamina to make projects happen. She’s a Dyersville development dynamo!

Sonja Ramirez

It is with great pleasure to nominate Sonja Ramirez in recognition of her great leadership skills and contributions to helping with the fight against Cancer.  Sonja is a co-chair for the Dyersville Relay for Life and dedicates many thankless hours to ensure the Relay is a success.  Sonja puts in countless hours behind the scenes getting ready for many fundraisers and events throughout the year.  Sonja is also the treasurer and team member of “Banking for a Cure”.  Sonja is always thinking of others and doing anything she can to help someone in need.  When a co-worker became ill, Sonja took the time to organize a Go Fund Me page to help ease the financial burden for the family.  People do not realize all the work Sonja does for the Relay and others as she is a very soft spoken person who would never expect recognition.  Sonja Ramirez cares deeply and would do anything to help out her friends, family and especially the Relay for Life.
