Thousands of Dollars in Stolen Items Recovered in Independence Theft Investigation

Independence Police say thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen items have been recovered as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Last month, police arrested 47-year old Jamie Reuther of Independence on theft charges. And since then, more search warrants have been executed at the home and storage sheds he had been renting.

Officers have been able to identify at least fifteen victims and help identify their stolen property.

If you think you are a possible victim, think Independence Police may have recovered property that was stolen from you or have any inquiries about the stolen items that were seized, contact Independence Police at 319-332-1819 or 319-334-2520.

The Independence Police Department says they are dedicated and committed to working with the victims of the thefts and assisting in identifying and returning their personal property. They expect the investigation to be very lengthy, so they are asking for everyone’s patience.

Reuther is facing nine additional counts of theft and three counts of possessing burglary tools – in addition to charges filed last month. He is currently being held in the Buchanan County Jail on 125-thousand dollars bond.
