Fayette Convicted Felon Sentenced for Possessing Firearms

A convicted felon from Fayette has been sentenced to prison for unlawfully possessing firearms.

U.S. District Court Judge Linda Reade sentenced 34-year old Joshua Sargent to two years in prison on Thursday.

Sargent had pleaded guilty last September to possession of a firearm by a felon.

Sargent possessed multiple firearms that had been stolen during burglaries in Lacrosse County, Wisconsin and sold two of them to a person who didn’t know the firearms were stolen. Authorities later seized the firearms, and during a search warrant at Sargent’s home, discovered two more stolen firearms.

He had previously been convicted of theft and going armed with intent.
