Progress is being made on the Petersburg wastewater project.
Petersburg, which is unincorporated, has never had a community-wide wastewater system. For the past decade, the DNR has told the community it needs to meet their wastewater requirements.
And after a long wait, it looks like the project could get started by next year.
ECIA Community Development Director Mark Schneider says they appear to have a willing seller for the land needed for the site on the southeast edge of Petersburg.
Schneider says Petersburg residents successfully completed the required income survey, which helps qualify them for some good rates with the USDA.
If everything falls into place, Schneider says they hope to receive USDA funding in the late fall – that would mean a bid letting in the winter and construction next spring.
