The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight safely returned to the Cedar Rapids Airport last night after a full day in Washington D.C.
Nearly one hundred veterans were part of yesterday’s flight – enjoying a day filled with visits to the national war monuments and Arlington Cemetery, as well as hugs and handshakes from family and strangers who are ready to give these old soldiers a warm reception – and the “welcome home” they always deserved.
Dick Bell, Vice President of the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, says they are more flights to come.
And he encourages local veterans to get signed up for their chance to go.
If you are a veteran interested in going on an upcoming Honor Flight, you can apply by downloading an application from the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight website – just print it off, fill it out and mail it in – or contact your local Legion for help with applying.
The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight has been able to transport more than 15-hundred Iowa veterans to Washington D.C. since 2009.
