Manchester Police say their recent traffic enforcement program during the Memorial Day weekend was a success.
Their department was just one of many across the state who participated in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau’s “STEP” Program. Between May 21st and June 3rd, police officers were stationed throughout Manchester watching for seatbelt use.
A pre-enforcement survey found that about 90-percent of drivers were buckling up – but after the program, a follow-up survey found around 94-percent were using their seatbelts.
During the program, Manchester Police issued seven traffic citations and 73 traffic warnings.
