June 22nd Deadline for Delaware Co. Fair Kiddie Livestock Shows

The 2018 Delaware County Fair will feature three Kiddie Livestock Shows for youth three years old through 3rd grade. The Kiddie Lamb Show will be held Tuesday during the Sheep Show at 4:00 p.m. The Kiddie Dairy Show will take place on Wednesday during the Dairy Show at 12:00 p.m. The Kiddie Beef Show will be on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to enter the 2018 Delaware County Fair Kiddie Lamb Show, Kiddie Dairy Show, and Kiddie Beef Show must file an entry form in the Delaware County Extension Office by Friday, June 22.  All kiddie events provide young people with an opportunity to participate in county fair activities and gain experience in showing livestock.

The Kiddie Lamb Show is open to any girl or boy who has not reached the 4th grade as of September 15, 2017, and is at least 3 years old as of the date of the show.  Each entrant may show one lamb born after January 1, 2018.  The Kiddie Lamb Show will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, between the Breeders Flock and Market Lamb classes.  Trophies will be provided by the West Delaware-Manchester FFA.

The Kiddie Dairy Show is open to any girl or boy who has not reached the 4th grade as of September 15, 2017, and is at least 3 years old as of June 1, 2018.  Entrants may show one dairy heifer calf of any breed, providing that the calf was born after February 28, 2018.  The Kiddie Dairy Show will be held at noon during the Dairy Show on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Trophies will be provided by the Delaware County Fair Board, Delaware County Dairy Council, and Three Rivers FS Co.

The Kiddie Beef Show is open to any boy or girl at least 3 years of age through 3rd grade. Entrants may show a heifer, steer, or bull calf of any breed. The calf must be born after March 1, 2018. The Kiddie Beef Show will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 starting at 6:00 p.m. Calves must check-in after 5:00 p.m. on the South Side of the Beef Barn and North Side of the Hog Barn (Wash Rack Area) on the Fairgrounds.

All animals entered in either show may be checked by an attending veterinarian prior to the show.  There is no entry fee for these events.  For entry forms and additional information, contact ISU Extension Delaware County, 1417 N.
