Elkader Man Injured in Linn County Collision

Linn County Deputies, Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue, Marion Police Department, Marion Fire Department and Area Ambulance responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 100 on Monday night.

Emergency responders arrived to find Mark Koehn, 61 years old of Elkader, had been traveling north bound on Highway 13 when he stopped for the red light at the Highway 100 intersection. A Cadillac Escalade driven by Jennifer Burlage, 38 years old of Delhi, failed to stop in time and hit the back of Koehn’s Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Koehn, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident was transported to Mercy Hospital for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. A dog riding in the sidecar of Koehn’s motorcycle also had minor injuries and was transported to the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center for treatment.

Burlage was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and was not injured. She was cited for Failure to Stop in Assured Clear Distance.
