Michael E. DeMuth age 79 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his home. He was born December 17, 1938 in Prairie du Chien the son of Raymond and Martha (Weber) DeMuth. He served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. He married Patricia Harris on June 22, 1963. Mike worked as a mechanic for Lloyd Schneider and later for Lochner’s Service Station in Prairie du Chien. He loved to tinker with anything that had an engine and even built his own racecar. He was a member of the Prairie du Chien Fire Department for over 32 years and retired as the Fire Chief in 1996. Mike was a fire fighting instructor at Southwest Technical College and also enjoyed teaching Gun Safety. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Pat DeMuth of Prairie du Chien, his children John (Patricia) DeMuth of Madison, WI, Chris Bartels of Lancaster, WI and Raymond DeMuth of Garber, IA, his brother Larry (Mary) DeMuth of Minocqua, WI along with his grandchildren, Samuel, Ariana, Ryan and Derek. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Paul, Ken, Max and Bob DeMuth.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Deacon Mark Grunwald officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien.
