Victim Named in Deadly Clayton County Collision

Authorities have released the name of the person killed in a Clayton County crash over the weekend.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year old James Everett of Jesup died when an oncoming SUV collided with his motorcycle on Highway 13. It happened Saturday shortly before 4:30 pm near the intersection of 215th Street.

Everett was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV also collided with another motorcycle driven by 26-year old Jacob Moran of Independence. Moran and his passenger, 25-year old Dystany Moran, also of Independence, were transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with critical injuries.

The driver of the SUV, 61-year old Joan Fish of Luana, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
