The “Freedom Is Not Free” Veterans’ Memorial in Manchester has come across a couple of stumbling blocks.
The veterans’ memorial was officially unveiled to the public last November during a dedication ceremony and residents and veterans have been enjoying the new attraction at Baum Park since that time. But the memorial is not quite finished – and Jack Klaus, who serves on the committee, says one of the issues they’ve run into is adding the names of forty more veterans to the Wall of Honor.
Klaus says they’ve also encountered a problem of engraving donors’ names on the memorials’ pavers.
There are still two pieces of the monument waiting to be sponsored by a business, family or individual – and there is also still room to add the names of veterans and donors.
Overall, Klaus says the support for the “Freedom Is Not Free” Veterans’ Memorial has been incredible.
Landscaping around the veterans’ memorial will be going in soon, with trees and shrubs expected to be planted in the next few weeks.
