The new Manchester Municipal Band performed a concert Wednesday night at the Tirrill Park Bandshell.
West Delaware Middle School band director Jill Burdick came up with the idea for a city band, giving residents from Manchester and the surrounding area a chance to dust off those old high school instruments.
Whether you played in the high school band or in college – or whether you play an instrument now but would like to be part of a group – you’re welcome to join – regardless of the instrument you play. And don’t worry about your performance skills being a little rusty if it’s been a couple decades since you’ve picked up your instrument – Burdick says it will all come back to you.
The Manchester Municipal Band started rehearsals this month, meeting every Wednesday night from 7 to 8 at the West Delaware Middle School band room. Their first performance was held Wednesday night at 6 pm at the Tirrill Park Bandshell in Manchester, with another concert coming up on July 25th.
