A bicycle rider from Germany spent the night in Manchester this past week on his way across the United States.
Joerg Richter says he always dreamed of cycling across the U.S. and wanted to do something after he lost several friends over the past few years. So, he’s cycling for a cause and delivering teddy bears to kids in children’s hospitals along the way.
He started his journey on April 4th in San Francisco and has had a place to stay almost every night since that time – thanks to fire departments across the country.
Richter spent the night at the Manchester Fire Station last Tuesday night – calling the station’s roof and electricity “luxury” on his long journey on the road. He is expected to reach his final destination in New York on September 24th – and he hopes to be able to reach a few people with his message along the way.
