Governor Kim Reynolds is looking for Iowans who are interested in serving on a task force she has created.
It’s called the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative. It establishes a partnership with the Iowa Rural Development Council to identify needed legislative, regulatory and policy changes. Recommendations will be provided by an executive committee and three task forces – the Investing in Rural Iowa Task Force, who will focus on its recommendations on improving access to quality housing in rural Iowa; the Growing Rural Iowa Task Force, who will focus on identifying ways to encourage leadership development and strategic development in rural communities; and the Connecting Rural Iowa Task Force, who will look into effectively and sustainably financing connectivity.
The task forces will begin meeting this fall. Initial recommendations will be due by the end of the year so they can be considered during the 2019 legislative session, but the work of the initiative will be ongoing.
Applications are due by Wednesday, August 1st. If you are interested in being part of a task force, you can find a link to the application here: https://openup.iowa.gov/board/229/Empower+Rural+Iowa+Initiative/.
