A crash in Fayette County killed over thirty hogs on Monday afternoon.
The Sheriff’s Office says a semi hauling a trailer load of hogs tipped over in a ditch on U Avenue about four miles southeast of Waucoma. They say the driver, 28-year old Levi Byler of Stewartville, Minnesota, became distracted and lost control. The semi went into the ditch, with the semi and trailer rolling onto its side.
No one was injured, but over thirty hogs were killed. The semi and trailer, owned by Livestock Express out of Waucoma, sustained around twenty-thousand dollars in damage.
The driver was cited for failing to maintain control.
