Local Women Compete in Iowa State Fair Queen Contest

Seven local women from the area competed in the Iowa State Fair Queen contest on Saturday night.

But the title went to 17-year old Hailey Swan of Davis County, who was crowned by State Fair Board President John Harms of Monticello. She will take the reign from Jacqueline Ehrlich of Dubuque County, who served as Iowa State Fair Queen this past year.

Swan was chosen from 103 contestants, all of who had been crowned queen of their respective county fairs prior to the State Fair.

The local contestants included Brooke Wilson of Delaware County, Jodie Mausser of Buchanan County, Kristi Eberhardt of Clayton County, Megan Gronau of Dubuque County, Megan Niewoehner of Fayette County, Delaney Sturtz of Linn County and Marissa Recker of the Great Jones County Fair.
