New School Year Begins

Today was the first day of school for all but one of our local school districts (East Buchanan goes back on Monday).  And there were some new faces to greet students as they returned from summer break.

West Delaware has just one new staff member this year.

Meanwhile, Maquoketa Valley has several new teachers this school year.

Palmer will serve as the High School Business Education Teacher at MV. And at St. Mary’s School in Manchester, Sara Feldmann will serve as an additional second grade teacher this year. The new teachers at West Delaware, St. Mary’s and Maquoketa Valley were invited to a luncheon hosted by the Manchester Rotary Club last week.

At Ed-Co, there are four new teachers – Katie Reth for JK, Shelley Wiskus for Kindergarten, Jenna Brown for Elementary Special Education and Morgan Weaver will serve as Secondary Counselor.

And there are a couple of new principals in the area as well, with Kelley Harbach serving as the new principal at St. Mary’s in Manchester and Marcel Kielkucki coming on as the new principal at Beckman Catholic High School in Dyersville.

KMCH’s Mike Johnson caught up with some of the students at Lambert Elementary in Manchester as they headed back to school this morning… and they filled him in on their favorite part of summer vacation.
