West Delaware FFA Enjoying “Big Boar” Win

The West Delaware FFA is enjoying their big win at the Iowa State Fair.

The chapter won this year’s “Big Boar” contest with their big pig – who they ironically named “Itty Bitty”.

That’s FFA member Tehya Demmer, who helped take care of “Itty Bitty” along with the other 43 members of the West Delaware chapter. Fellow student Jim Drummy says a lot of work went into getting him ready for the State Fair contest.

When the day of the competition came, they piled into two vans and left Manchester for Des Moines. Cody Wenger recalls the moments leading up to their “Big Boar” win.

“Itty Bitty” weighed in at 1,163 pounds – it was the closest “Big Boar” competition in Iowa State Fair history.

The award-winning pig will be headed to the Texas State Fair in September, with plans to “retire” after that.
