Manchester Police participated in the Governors Traffic Safety Bureau’s STEP Program over the Labor Day holiday.
Police were stationed at locations throughout Manchester watching for seatbelt use.
A survey done before the traffic enforcement program started found that 96-percent of Manchester’s drivers were using their seatbelts, with a second survey done afterwards showing 95-percent of drivers buckling up.
During the two-week long enforcement program, Manchester Police issued twelve traffic citations and 59 traffic warnings. They also helped over a dozen motorists and made three felony arrests.
