Regional Medical Center (RMC) is pleased to announce RMC’s Trauma Program received recognition for excellence in Trauma Care as a Level IV facility in Iowa. RMC was competing against 95 Level IV programs in the state. Dr. Craig Thompson (Emergency Services Medical Director), Jeanette Riniker (Emergency Department Coordinator), and many members of the RMC Trauma Team were there to accept the award on August 29, 2018 at the State of Iowa Trauma Conference in Des Moines.
“On behalf of RMC, I would like to congratulate and thank our Trauma Team members for the wonderful, lifesaving trauma care you provide to our patients and community! It is a well-deserved honor,” said Heather Ries, RMC Chief Nursing Officer.
Dr. Thompson has been involved with EMS for over 40 years. During that time, he has been an advocate for rural EMS and family practice. Dr. Thompson is currently the medical director of RMC’s paramedic level EMS service and serves as a director of 11 other EMS services in surrounding communities.
Jeanette Riniker is RMC’s Trauma Program Manager, working full time in the Emergency Department (ED). She provides education in the ED and hospital on trauma related issues. She is also actively involved in community education, teaching the principles of “Stop the Bleed” to kids and adults.
This was the first statewide trauma conference of its kind, providing opportunities for collaboration and education between multiple trauma programs.
