Cub and Boy Scouts Opening Program to Girls

The Cub Scouts program is now opening up its membership to girls.

Girls can join Cub Scouts this fall, and starting in February, they can become part of the Boys Scouts, which will soon be known as the Scouts BSA.

Melissa Neuhaus with the Northeast Iowa Council for the Boy Scouts explains how the addition of girls to the program will work.

Also new this year – the Scouts has a Lions program for kindergartners. It debuted as a pilot program and has now become official.

Local families can learn more about the Scouts program during a recruitment night tonight hosted by Manchester Cub Scout Pack 35 from 6:30 to 8 pm at United Methodist Church.

If you’re not able to attend tonight’s event, you can get more information about the Scouts by calling Kim at 608-5523 or the Scout Office at 563-556-4343.
