An apparent lightning strike started a fire at a house southwest of Dundee on Tuesday morning.
The Dundee Fire Department was called to the Larry and Katie Savago home on 160th Street around 10:30 am.
The 911 caller reported flames were coming through the roof of the house.
No one was home when the fire broke out. A dog inside the home made it out safely.
Dundee Fire Chief Jason Groskurth says the home sustained fire and smoke damage, mainly confined to the roof and front side of the house.
Fire officials say neighbors witnessed a lightning strike in that area. A local resident driving nearby told KMCH he also saw a large lightning bolt appear to hit something on the ground.
Fire departments from Lamont, Masonville and Manchester also responded to the scene.
